Nashik, June 4, 2011: Datamatics Global Services, a leading solutions provider of Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services, today organized its Annual Awards function – Achievers 2011 in Nashik. Dr. Lalit. S. Kanodia, Chairman, Datamatics Global, presented the awards to the deserving employees for their valuable contribution in the company’s success during 2010-11.

Addressing more than 650 employees in attendance, Dr. Kanodia said, “It is indeed a proud moment for us as an organization to have gathered here to appreciate and acknowledge the pivotal role that few of our colleagues have played in enabling us create value and deliver sustained growth. Being a people driven company, it is important for us to recognize talent in such platforms. It doesn’t only fuel the achievers to achieve more but also motivates each of us to take a lead.”

At the event, Dr. Kanodia also announced company’s strategy to tap Tier II and III cities to fuel its expansion plans.  Working in this direction, the company had started off its Nashik operations in June 18, 2007. “The software industry has recognized that talent is available in cities such as Nashik and in view of the increasing requirement of employees, companies are now setting up delivery centres in tier 2 / tier 3 cities,” said Dr. Lalit S. Kanodia, Chairman, Datamatics Global Services. He further added, “We have taken a lead in Nashik and in our state of the art facility have employed close to 650 employees from this city.  ”

Recently, a Nasscom study has shown that 58% of the software employees are from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, and not from tier 1 cities.  Unfortunately, due to lack of suitable hi-tech jobs in Tier 2/Tier 3 cities, most of these professionals have to migrate to other cities to get suitable employment. This is true of Nashik also, where graduates of Information Technology have to seek jobs in cities like Mumbai and Pune.

Added Dr. Kanodia, “We hope that our centre in Nashik will encourage young graduates to continue residing in Nashik instead of migrating.  The quality of life, social environment and salubrious climate of Nashik are conducive to Nashik becoming a major city, going forward”.

Commenting on the need to develop industry-oriented skills among graduates, said Dr. Kanodia, “Despite excellent colleges in Nashik, graduates have to be trained for the latest requirements in USA and Europe. We do hope that the curriculum in colleges in Nashik will keep pace with the rapidly accelerating technology in the developed world so that Nashik can become an effective and significant technology centre in Maharashtra”.

From the Nashik facility, the company provides non-voice Business Process Outsourcing services to various domains, such as Finance & Accounting, Printing & Publishing, Document Management and  Market Research & Analytics. Some of the customers that Datamatics being services out of Nashik facility include IBM, Xerox and GE.

To ensure excellent customer service to its global clients, the company imparts regular training to its employees. The company has five training facilities, which can simultaneously seat 200 employees at its fully equipped state of the art facility. The company also imparts training in soft skills and the English and German language.   Besides in-house facilities, the company also deploys visiting professors from educational institutions in Nashik and elsewhere.
