Mumbai, October 27, 2015: Today, senior government officials from the Republic of Burundi met with the senior management of Datamatics Global Services Limited to discuss about the ways to grow the IT sector in Burundi. The officials present included H.E. Gaston Sindimwo – First Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, H.E. Katabarumwe – Ambassador of Burundi in India, Dr. Deo-Guide – Minister of Agriculture & Livestock along with several other dignitaries. Dr. Lalit Kanodia, Founder and Chairman – Datamatics, delivered an address on the possibilities of the emergent IT sector in Africa and on how the Indian and African economies are expected to see a tremendous growth in the coming years.
Dr. Kanodia, who is also the incumbent president of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), spoke about exploring ways to contribute to the economies of both India and Burundi. He was of the view that the IT sector can be a key player in restructuring and developing the growth of Burundian economy. According to Dr. Kanodia, a strong IT policy framework and emphasis on related higher training would be key to this growth.
